Pokémon Black 2 & Pokémon White 2

Nintendo gave everyone a bit of a surprise with their recent, unprecedented Pokémon announcement. Instead of creating the standard Pokémon Grey (or Pokémon Zebra, alternatively), we’re getting fully-fledged sequels to the newest Black and White games, in the form of Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. What exactly prompted Nintendo to take this turn for their popular RPG series?

The standard of a third game began in 1999, on the Game Boy. The Pokémon anime had taken the United States by storm, and Nintendo wanted to capitalize on our newfound obsession with the most famous of those Pokémon, Pikachu. The story, areas, and included Pokémon were very similar to the original games, though there were some gameplay enhancements made.

Speaking of investment, while building a new game would require more investment than a new in-between title, making a sequel still lets Nintendo save a bit of work. We could find ourselves with a particularly high-quality game fairly soon.

Will you be buying Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2?
